I'm currently working on a small studio in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The space needs to serve a plethora of functions; living room, eating area, bedroom and workspace for the aspiring fashion designer who lives there.
By using a neutral and monochromatic color palette, we'll keep the space feeling bright and open while small pops of color will add personality and allow for easy changes as the mood strikes.
Using readily available shipping pallets to build a platform for the bed is a creative and affordable alternative to a standard issue bed frame. An elevated floor cushion is an unexpected substitute for a sofa and takes up much less floor space, while a lightweight rattan chair provides even more seating and can easily be moved as needed.
